Otomedius (オトメディウス) is a horizontal shooter developed and published by Konami in 2007. Otomedius is the first game of the Otomedius series, and the only game of the series released in arcades. Otomedius was ported to the Xbox 360 in the form of Otomedius Gorgeous.

The game borrows heavily from Konami's other shooters, such as Gradius, Salamander and Parodius. All the playable characters are modeled after a ship in an earlier game. The twist in this game is that all the playable characters, and most of the bosses, are personified as girls riding an RV (with the exception of Emon 5, who is male).

The female characters have been described as "rather off-putting, especially for those outside of the otaku audience."

Otomedius employs the e-AMUSEMENT system to track players' progress and unlock extra weapons and characters.

Characters
*Aoba Anoa (Vic Viper, Gradius)
*Erul Tron (Lord British, Salamander)
*Emon 5 (inspired by Ganbare Goemon)
*Madoka (TwinBee)
*Diol Twee (Xexex)
*Tita Nium (Big Core, Gradius)

Gameplay
Players control their characters using the standard joystick and buttons through the majority of the game. When a player uses a special attack, they must tap the screen to select which enemies to attack. The menus are also navigated using the touchscreen. If you poke a character's breasts enough times during character select, she will yell at you.

Gameplay is extremely similar to Gradius; the same power up bar system is used. Players can outfit their ships with weapons that are unlocked by advancing through the game. Players, however, cannot change which slot a particular weapon is in. Each character has a unique power up bar.

For example, Aoba Anoa's power up bar is outfitted as:
*<code>Speed - Missile - Double - Laser - Option - ?</code>

While the player can decide, for instance, on which Laser to equip her with, the player cannot place the Laser in slot 2; for Anoa, the Laser will always be in slot 4.

The ? when cashed in gives the player a large refill on their special attack instead of the more traditional shield. Players begin with a force field already activated; once depleted, it cannot be restored.

Players respawn at the point of the miss instead of returning to a checkpoint. In this way, it is more similar to Salamander than Gradius.

Players can play three stages per credit, though there are more than three stages in the game. Players may freely choose which stages to play and in what order to play them. Players also choose the difficulty level per stage.

There is also a crude elemental system: the four elements are Water, Fire, Earth and Wind. Enemies drop elemental medals. As the player picks up the medals, their offense and defense are altered. The characters also have a predetermined elemental affinity, as do the stages. Void elemental characters and enemies are completely unaffected by the elemental system.

Multiplayer
Up to three players can compete head-to-head in a race to defeat a course of enemies in the fastest time while achieving the highest score. In this mode, players are given infinite lives and an eight minute time limit to defeat five bosses. The first four are selected at random, although all players will fight the same bosses. The fifth boss is always Zelos Force Fortune. Each boss is preceded by a standard Gradius dogfight to get capsules and power up your RV. After Zelos Force Fortune is defeated, or eight minutes have elapsed, the game ends. Players are then ranked from best to worst to determine a winner.

Raizing, now known as Eighting, was a developer of shooting games and other arcade games in the 1990s and early 2000s. It was one of four companies founded after the demise of Toaplan, along with Cave, Gazelle, and Takumi.

Raizing is most famous for a pair of shooting trilogies, the Mahou Daisakusen trilogy and the Bat trilogy.

While Raizing did not officially close its doors, in October 2000 the Raizing division was incorporated into Eighting, which coincides with Eighting's decision to focus solely on the home console market. Because of this, Raizing can be considered a defunct arcade gaming company, and indeed some of the staff has left Raizing. Most notable is the departure of Shinobu Yagawa, who is now employed by Cave and continues to program shooting games for Cave.
Athena (アテナ) is a platformer released by SNK in 1986. The game was subsequently ported to many home consoles, including the NES and Commodore 64. Athena is notable for being an extremely difficult and unpopular game, especially its NES port. The titular character, however, became very popular and has been a recurring character in many later SNK games. Athena predates the MVS and was released on its own dedicated PCB.

Story
Athena (based on the Greek goddess of the same name) is a selfish princess of the Kingdom of Victory, which inhabits a mysterious world. She grows bored with the monotonous life day by day in her castle and desires exciting adventures. One day she opened the Door Which Shouldn't Be Opened in the basement of Castle Victory, and fell to another world called Fantasy World which was dominated by an evil emperor Dante, a creature based on Cerberus.

Gameplay
Players guide Athena across several worlds collecting weapons and armor to increase her strength and defense. Power ups are found from enemy drops and inside stones that Athena can smash with a blunt object. Athena can increase her life bar by collecting large hearts released by attacking the large red flowers that bloom throughout the stages. At the end of each stage is a boss that Athena must defeat in order to continue on to the next stage. All stages are timed; the timer is reset when a new stage is entered.

Extras
* To access the Test mode hold START during machine boot.

* Something not found in the manual is that there is a "secret" mode. If you set dip switch 7 of bank 2 to ON you will get one life less than usual (2 instead of 3 or 5), but the life meter will start at 22 and not 12 or 14.

* Every time you die you lose all the equipment collected up to that point unless you also have a "K" item in your inventory. If you have it when you die you will only lose the "K" but keep the rest of the items.

* There is a secret stage that can be reached by collecting a magic key on World of Ice, World of Hell, or World of Sky. This stage is called "World of Labyrinth." When you complete the "World of Labyrinth," you will meet an angel. Do not attack her; wait until she drops an harp. If you collect it, it will work as a perpetual "K" item and you will never lose your items again when you die. After defeating the angel, you will be returned to the stage after the one you picked up the key on.

* The game displays upside-down on a standard monitor. One would need to flip their monitor yoke to get the game to display properly.
It uses a MC68000 CPU with a Z80 sound CPU. The sound chips are either a YMZ280B or OKIM6295 x (1|2) + YM2203 / YM2151. The Z80 and OKIM6295 x (1|2) + YM2203 / YM2151 are optional components.
The CAVE 1st Generation Hardware was a popular hardware board used by many companies besides Cave. Other companies that used the hardware include Atlus and Namco.
*Feels like a mix of Daioujou and Daifukkatsu Black Label. No Reddo gauge, though.
*Dress system is linked with the shot selection (it changes the clothes of your pilot):
**Shot = military garb
**Laser = everyday clothes
**Expert = Swimsuit/bikini
*Combo gauge appears to be like Daifukkatsu BL - it doesn't cut, just slowly reduces some times.
*Three button system (shot, bomb, laser).
*Autobomb on/off. With it off, it's like Daioujou's system. With it on, one autobomb takes all your bomb stock, and bombs don't replenish.
*No shot power up items, you start full charged up like in Daifukkatsu.
While it does have a miniscule "pause" in fire rate every second or so, it's excellent for use with most games and is incredibly cheap to produce.
To locate the exact solder points - here they are (depending if you need 1 or 2 GND lines):

You can directly solder it to an RCA socket - this one for example only requires 1 GND line:

Also, you can solder pins to the MoBo and crimp some wires to easily take it off - should you want that:

What I did was drill 2 holes on the side near the AW badge:
Konami System 573 is arcade hardware released by Konami in 1998. It is based around the PlayStation console hardware and uses a combination of CD-ROM and security cartridge to load games.

Later Bemani System 573 releases pair the security cartridge and hardware together, preventing it from being used with a different game title. System 573 can also be affected by the RTC dying. While this doesn't prevent games from loading, it does prevent the system saving game save data (high scores etc).
Gazelle Co., Ltd. was a developer of arcade games in the mid 1990s. Gazelle was founded by former Toaplan employees after Toaplan's bankruptcy. Unfortunately, Gazelle only produced three games: Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon in 1995, Air Gallet, the game for which Gazelle is best known, in 1996, and Quiz Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon in 1997.
