Released in 1988, the Sega Aero City is the machine that brought fame to Sega's City series. The basic control panel configuration did not change from the Sega Aero Table T-26, but because of its compact design it remained a fixture of game centers for a long time. Its other merits included a 26 inch monitor that was large for its time, and its easy operability. The machine was compact, but at 110 kg, it weighed 20 kg more than the Aero Table. The Aero City was also sold in yellow and green. This may have been an attempt to escape the dark and scary image of game centers that many people still held onto.
Dedicated candy cab for the Sammy Atomiswave, using the licensed shell of a Taito Egret 3 in combination with a Wei-Ya monitor and power supply.

Information
This cab features a Tri-sync monitor so it can be used for 31K NAOMI and Atomiswave operation. It uses a JVS power supply that supplies 3.3v as well as 5v and 12v. It is mainly JAMMA with some JVS functionality, but in order to use a NAOMI, a JVS IO converter such as the Capcom or Sega IO is required. It features a VGA connector for connecting a JVS board to already.

The default control panel is a 1L6B with a custom memory card reader, used for some Atomiswave games. The control panel housing is compatible with Taito Egret 2, Egret 3, and also Sega Astro/Blast/Naomi Panels. These are commonly seen fitted with a 2L12B Egret 3 panel for two player functionality.

The cabinet can be upgraded with a sound amp easily as it is wired with the necessary 12v and speaker connections for a Taito Stereo Amp.

Modifications
Longevity
The Rodotron 666 can have its normal service life extended dramatically with some modifications. Joey at http://www.jomac.net.au suggests the following servicing:

My best advice for both of these chassis is take them off the plastic base and resolder everything using normal 60/40 solder, not the unleaded rubbish they are made with, take your time and use a hot iron at about 350C. When you are done put it back on the base using all the screws, you don't want these flexing in any way, then most importantly put a 12V fan blowing over the chassis and also the neck board, I use two fans. Doing just this alone I have had a heap of these out on location for over 3 years going 18+ hours a day without ever coming out.
The only difference between the Wei Ya and Rodotron is the neck boards, they both use the same quality components on the same type of PCB material, a lot of the tracks are too thin and the solder pads too small. Making it worse is the poor soldering using lead free solder.
The next major reason for failure on all of the these chassis is a dirty CRT around the anode. Trust me even if you think it's clean it usually isn't. I suggest soaking a rag in methylated spirits and clean all around the anode hole and all the side of the tube before connecting the chassis, it only takes one big discharge between the anode and the yoke to blow these chassis up. These models have very little protection for this type of discharge and it kills these chassis more than any others!
So the secret is: good solder, clean and cool :)

*You need a ON-ON switch that can take high voltage. (ex : 250VAC)
Make sure you are very experienced with a soldering iron or you WILL end up with a dead monitor.
This is one of the hardest boards to recap due to the sheer amount of caps, leaded solder issues, lifting pads and capacitor substitutions.
Modifications
The Wei-Ya 3129 chassis is known for having quite a few quirks. Members of the community have researched and/or documented various modifications to improve performance and quality of these chassis:
* Replace the resistor at R111 with a 0.68 ohm, 1W, 350V resistor to enhance vertical overscan. (Archived from the original)
* If you're having issues with pincushion adjustment, check the capacitor at position C76 and ensure it is 1uF, 50V. Also, check continuity from this cap to the adjacent IC10; if there is no continuity, bridge IC10 and C76. (Archived from the original)
* The soldering on these chassis is generally known to be suspect at best; consider reflowing as much as you can with fresh, leaded solder.
* These chassis run hot. Very hot. Consider installing a fan to blow cool air across and over the chassis while in use.
Monitor / Chassis Swap Information
The Wei-Ya chassis typically used in the Egret 3 and the Atomiswave SD (Wei-Ya 3129D) is generally considered to be of inferior quality compared to offerings from competitors such as Toshiba and Sanwa. Unfortunately, there is no direct replacement for neither the monitor nor the chassis, but several options have been theorized or successfully completed by community members:
*Toshiba chassis swap on the original monitor, archived from the original post on Arcade-Projects. Refer to the second post of the thread for detailed instructions.

Notes
*The largest PCB board that can be fitted is 550x392x12mm.
*The cabinet can be upgraded with a sound amp easily as it is wired with the necessary 12v and speaker connections for a Taito Stereo Amp.
