Following some discussion on another forum, I elected to remove this older guidance:&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;#039;&amp;#039;It is advisable to buy pins for thicker wire as the parts that crimp the wire and insulation can be trimmed down allowing them to be used on thinner wire as well as thicker wire. &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;
As others pointed out, this is not advised as it goes against best practices and can cause trouble down the road. These pins are cheap. Wire is cheap. Just buy the right size. :P&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
