SNK revealed the Super Neo 29 in 1995, the promo articles & flyers focusing mainly on the LCD "sub-monitor" option that could be featured on the cabinet header meant to display game instructions, as well as the CCD camera to capture eventually the players' face, display it on the sub-monitor and thus spice up competitions in the arcades.

The prototype shown at AM Show 95 differed slightly from the commercially released version (see differences below in Gallery).

Super Neo 29 variants lineup :

  • Super Neo 29 N4 (スーパーネオ29-N4) : cabinet without the header LCD sub-monitor. Its MVS board can switch between up to 4 Neo Geo games.
  • Super Neo 29 TF (スーパーネオ29-TF) : cabinet with the LCD sub-monitor.
  • Super Neo 29 TFV (スーパーネオ29-TFV) : cabinet with the LCD sub-monitor, "competitive" version of the TF variant.
