Overview

The Capcom Impress is a candy cabinet released in 1996 and designed to partner with the Capcom CPS2 arcade system, featuring a dual-sync Hitachi GML 29" monitor.

The Impress originally came with Seimitsu LS-40 joysticks with color-matched shaft covers and Seimitsu PS-15 30mm main buttons, with Seimitsu PS-14-D 24mm buttons serving as player select buttons. Player 1 controls are green and Player 2 controls are yellow, while the player select buttons are pink.

As the Impress shares a common control panel bolt pattern yet the control panel itself is not recessed, many panels from other machines (such as Astro City and later SEGA, Konami Windy, Taito Egret II, and Atomiswave SD panels) can be used on an Impress.

Due to its heavily-plastic construction (which is prone to yellowing and cracking), uncommon CRT, esoteric design, and relative rarity (making original parts sourcing difficult), the Impress has a reputation of being problematic to maintain and restore, with some considering it "flimsy" or unreliable. That said the Impress does have its fans - particularly CPS2 enthusiasts due to its QSound audio system.

At 730mm wide, The Impress is ~20mm narrower than most candy cabinets with a 29" monitor. This makes it easier to fit through doors (particularly home interior doors) without requiring disassembly.
