The Joy-Ro 29 is a South Korean general-purpose arcade cabinet manufactured and marketed by Andamiro Co., Ltd.. It is the larger member of Andamiro's Joy-Ro cabinet family, alongside the smaller Joy-Ro 21.
Contemporary Andamiro promotional material documents the Joy-Ro range by 2001 and describes it as being available in both 21-inch and 29-inch configurations. The cabinet could be purchased either as a complete machine or as a cabinet-only assembly, and was offered in both sitdown and upright configurations.
The Joy-Ro 29 uses standard JAMMA wiring and was designed to accommodate a broad range of arcade hardware. Andamiro advertised the monitor system as compatible with signals between approximately 15 and 31.5 kHz.
Manufacturer
The Joy-Ro was manufactured and marketed by Andamiro Co., Ltd., a South Korean amusement machine manufacturer founded in 1992.
Andamiro is best known internationally for the Pump It Up rhythm-game series, but its product range has also included general-purpose video cabinets, redemption machines, shooting games and other amusement equipment.
Original Andamiro promotional material identifies two Joy-Ro cabinet sizes:
- Joy-Ro 21
- Joy-Ro 29
The same promotional material identifies Andamiro Co., Ltd. in Seoul, South Korea, together with Andamiro USA Corp.
The surviving Joy-Ro flyer is copyright Andamiro Co., Ltd. 2001, establishing that the cabinet was being marketed by that year. It has not yet been established whether 2001 was the exact introduction year or simply the date of the surviving literature.
Configurations
Andamiro advertised the Joy-Ro in both sitdown and upright configurations.
The upright configuration uses a taller lower cabinet or base section, raising the monitor and control panel to standing height. The sitdown configuration places the controls lower for seated play.
Contemporary promotional material states that:
- Complete machine or cabinet-only versions were available
- Upright or sitdown configurations were available
- The monitor frame could be adjusted for horizontal or vertical games
A separate Andamiro product sheet also shows the cabinet platform being marketed for both conventional video game and gamble game applications, indicating that the Joy-Ro was intended as a flexible general-purpose cabinet rather than hardware dedicated to a particular game.
Monitor
The Joy-Ro 29 is fitted with a 29-inch monitor.
Andamiro advertised the Joy-Ro monitor system as compatible with arcade hardware operating between approximately 15 and 31.5 kHz.
Original promotional material states:
Monitor compatible with any type of PCB [15–31.5kHz]
The monitor frame was designed to allow installation in either horizontal or vertical orientation.
There is no dedicated rotation mechanism, so changing orientation requires the monitor assembly to be manually repositioned.
The exact monitor and chassis fitted to all factory Joy-Ro 29 cabinets has not yet been established, and surviving examples may have used different Korean multi-frequency monitor hardware depending on production period or market.
Design
The Joy-Ro 29 is a large moulded-plastic candy-style cabinet with a rounded upper housing, broad control panel and integrated lower cabinet.
Its general layout follows the design language of Japanese candy cabinets of the period, while retaining distinctive Andamiro styling and branding.
Compared with the smaller Joy-Ro 21, the 29-inch cabinet has a significantly larger shell and a taller overall profile.
The cabinet was intended as a general-purpose platform suitable for a wide range of arcade PCBs rather than as a cabinet dedicated to a specific game.

Original Andamiro product literature gives the following specifications for the Joy-Ro 29:

| Height | 1670 mm |

- Depth: 35.43 inches
- Height: 65.75 inches

These factory figures supersede older enthusiast listings which sometimes give a weight of 158 kg.
Controls and wiring
The Joy-Ro 29 uses standard JAMMA wiring.
Surviving examples are normally fitted with a two-player control panel, although button layouts may differ depending on the game originally installed or later operator modifications.
Andamiro marketed the cabinet as a general-purpose enclosure compatible with a variety of game PCBs.
Applications
The Joy-Ro cabinet family was marketed for more than one type of amusement installation.
Andamiro promotional material shows the platform in both:
- Video Game Type
- Gamble Game Type
This suggests that the same underlying cabinet shell could be configured for conventional arcade games or other amusement and gambling-style applications.
The exact hardware differences between these variants have not yet been documented.
