Jaleco's Pony Lava Type existed in two types, chronology unknown today : one version cloned Tehkan's Lava, while the second cloned the New Lava and Mini Lava in another revision.

The licensed status is uncertain as many Tehkan Lava clones were simply produced without any agreement nor authorization, see relevant cabinet article.

The Pony Lava Type, 1st version mentioned above, mimicks very closely the original Tehkan Lava with its recessed lower sheet metal enclosure (similar to Namco's Lava type), while a second version appearing in catalogs & seen in japanese arcade venues as well as for sale on the 2nd hand market shows a major design revision, making it less similar to Tehkan Lava and more in line with the clones made by SNK and Casio (wooden sides only), though amusingly bearing the same curved cutout as Tehkan's New Lava cab, on the side plywood panels near the monitor, but said Jaleco's side structural panels extend, just like Tehkan(Tecmo) Mini Lava, continuously without having a full metal service box underneath (all wood).

Unlike the Mini Lava, the Jaleco Pony Lava Type panels reach down to cocktail style tubular feet -absent from the Mini Lava- which are similar in function to the first Lava & New Lava models, but less refined (straight legs instead of curved), possibly not being adjustable in height as opposed to the Tehkan original whose friction adjustment handles are clearly visible on the sides but absent on the Jaleco clone.
