The Namco Lava "type" sported a 20" monitor, which was wider than that of the Tehkan Lava and even New Lava (both 18"), the Namco version being slightly deeper as well. It is unsure if there was an agreement between Namco and Tehkan(Tecmo), but the latter company released an official cease and desist message in Game Machine Magazine warning about Lava cabinets being modded and or cloned -without any authorization- by other big names in the arcade industry (certain names were given).

Further inspection shows the header marquee featuring a graphic which is the exact same, save the company logo substitution, to a discarded design seen in the sketches present in the original Lava service/maintenance leaflets (see Tehkan Lava page). In a nutshell the "copy" is too close, according to the information obtained up to now, it points to a rebranded and slighlty customized 20" version.

Namco Dig Dug flyer proposed in Japan several cabinets with the game installed, namely one upright (dagashiya style generic wooden upright used by Namco in early days), two cocktails including a mini 14" model and finally a 20" Lava Type (ラバタイプ仕様) model# 95-2184
