SNK released the New Candy 25 in 1992. It is nothing more than a "Candy" (JAMMA compatible) version of the 1991 MVS-U1/25 1-slot MVS 25" cabinet with slight modifications: the overall design remains the same, the header section containing the stereo lateral speakers is updated as the dimensions are revised. Speakers are now a smaller, model logo/graphic changed along with the window displaying it : MVS-U1/25 was 1266mm high due to higher speakers while New Candy 25 is 50mm shorter at 1216mm (without plexi topper), but both model share evidently the exact same width (620mm) and depth (790mm).

The New Candy 25 flyer in the Gallery below does not mention at all the MVS-U1/25 direct filiation and instead focuses on New Candy 25 being pitched to potential owners as a novel design, an evolution (upgrade + reduced dimensions) of the New Version Body Candy 25 which is named only "Candy 25"/"Original Candy 25" in the Japanese text. SNK specifies New Candy is 40mm smaller in width and 60mm smaller in depth compared to New Version Body Candy 25.

It appears there are two versions of the control panel finish for New Candy 25:

A)(initial version) White powdercoat finish with blue stripes on side bevels; "New Candy 25" graphic in the middle of the front beveled area.

B)Polished & shiny bare metal with blue stripes applied on the side bevels. No "New Candy 25" graphic on the front bevel.

"Candy 25": New Candy 25 Vs. New Version Body Candy 25

New Candy 25 cabinet is very often confused with the New Version Body Candy 25 by some uninformed sellers who simply call it Candy 25 while SNK only acknowledged the "New Version Body Candy 25" under the simple moniker "Candy 25". Here are the main differences :

• New Version Body Candy 25 is basically a 25" version of the 26" model New Version Body Candy 26 with practically nothing changed apart the monitor. It retains the same early angular, Sega Aero City design without much more refinement (unlike the New Candy 25). Its absence from all promo flyers (as of today) dedicated to the "New Version Body Candy" series is most probably the source of confusion between both models.

• New Candy 25 is an upgrade of MVS-U1/25 still retaining the 1-slot MVS but now JAMMA compatible ; two easy features for quick & easy visual identification are 1) the marquee logo "New Candy 25" differs radically from the more vintage type "New Version Body - Candy 25 - SNK" logo highlighted in a yellow background & partly circled by a surrounding black lined oval, same as the 26" logo version save for the 25" mention. 2) New Candy 25 has the exact same control panel enclosure design as MVS-U1/25 (not only beveled like New Version body series, but with highly radiused corners and edges, impossible to misidentify). 3) New Candy 25 & similar MVS-U1/25 have a header/speaker section that appears to have a gapless & continuous junction with the top part of the main frame...while New Version Body Candy 25 has a separate header enclosure/module affixed to the top of the cabinet structure by an intermediary (reduced dimension) section of steel sheet structure, leaving a visible and intentional gap.
