Advertised freshly in 1989 as part of the New Version Body line of cabinets along with the New Version Body Table Candy 26, both were directly inspired by SEGA's 1988 Aero City & Aero Table. SNK promoted the Candy 26 as a solid basis for conversion to a medal type cabinet (see below flyer in Gallery).

Candy 26 alt name in SNK's catalogs as well as in the user manual was R8001 (as means of comparison, SNK Candy 18's alt name was R6001 and Table 18 was T6001)

The cabinet, just like its 18" predecessor Candy 18 had an optional riser module to make it more akin to an Upright type cabinet: this "Upright Stand" as SNK coins it, is seldom if ever seen on the 2nd hand market today. The medal conversion had this option stock. The module is meant to be affixed below the cabinet's footrest portion but unlike Candy 18's riser module, the Candy 26's one did not have its own footrest (see 2-part flyer in Gallery). The flyer does not specify how tall the cabinet is when the riser is affixed, but given the height of the other types of riser/upright modules (SNK Candy 18, Jaleco Pony mkII, Sega City...) it should be logically in the 30cm ballpark.

Early flyers showcased the Candy 26 without stereo 3.5mm headphone jacks on the control panel enclosure, as opposed to the flyer for the final version which promoted the cabient as being stock with, on the left of the control panel enclosure, 2x headphone jacks (see in Gallery). An optional ashtray holder was also available.
