A couple months after, or maybe simultaneously when Sammy released the 1992 Lunaria, a quasi clone of SEGA's 1991 Swing, Taito also released an imitation of the latter, albeit in a larger format (29" instead of 26" monitor) : the Egret 29 cabinet. The 3 & 4 players panel concept of the Swing didn't make it though in Taito's book. Apart from that aspect, the Egret 29 is basically an upgrade of the original Swing in almost all aspects.

A December 1992 cabinet lineup shows amusingly short presentation articles for the Lunaria and Egret 29 next to each other, if the Egret 29 wasn't released in December then it happened early '93.

4 identical 8Ω 5.5W loudspeakers are present, 2 above and 2 on the sides, as opposed to Sega Swing's only 2 lateral speakers. Egret 29 also features an all-in-one shader-hood/topper, housing 2 of the aforementioned speakers, on top of which the topper with marquee is fixed. The whole is held at an angle via two round steel arms.

Taito states the main chassis cabinet structure is all steel panel (painted), but the parts in contact with the players' hands, such as the control panel box enclosure top section, are made of "smooth & comfortable to the touch resin" (not specified which type of plastic).

Red color variants exist of the Egret 29 but are less common.

The rotation mechanism was said by Taito to require very little force by the technician ("easy to operate [...] even by women").

• A clone of the Egret 29 with a more basic aspect and tiny lateral speaker modules would appear in South Korea arcade venues such as in the local Sega Gameland: "Daejin Fantasy 29" (see below in Gallery)
