Tehkan's New Lava features a slightly deeper (+4mm) and wider (+34mm) cabinet compared to the regular Lava, but the max adjustable height remains the same.

The overal design also is the same save for the painted plywood panels on the sides of the monitor, whose quite different profile now has a pronounced concave curve stemming from the control panel area right to the header.

Another notable difference are the revised control panel graphic, when the cab bears the stock Tehkan/Tecmo one of course and not a generic replacement part; the marquee's "video game" graphics are also revised, now bolder in appearance.

Recognizing side panel outline and graphics (control panel & marquee) constitute an unmistakable method to identify the New Lava cabinet from its Lava predecessor whose minute dimensional differences cannot be detected on a photo and alone are a source of confusion when vintage arcade cabinet enthiusiasts take in consideration solely the general shape.
