The Triforce is an arcade system board developed jointly by Namco, Sega, and Nintendo, with the first games appearing in 2002. The name "Triforce" is a reference to Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series of games, and symbolized the three companies' involvement in the project. The system hardware is based on the Nintendo GameCube with several differences, like provisions for add-ons such as Sega's GD-ROM system and upgradeable RAM modules.[1]

Type

Three Types of the Triforce hardware exist:

Type 1 (older rectangular metal box without built-in DIMM board)
This unit is used for earlier GD-ROM based games. It is not possible to use the NAND Type media board with this model. Not compatible with Type 3 games.

Type 3 (newer square metal box version with built in GDROM controller)
This unit is used for later GD-ROM based games. It is possible to use the NAND Type media board with this model. Not compatible with Type 1 games.

NAND Type
This unit is by default has a NAND ROM media board. This is used for Mario Kart Arcade GP 1 & 2 and F-Zero AX Monster Ride.

Regions

Changing Region

Boot up the Triforce with nothing connected except for the satellite / netboot pic security chip. Go into the test menu using the test button go down to system information and press the service button 30 times. A menu will appear where the region can be changed.
