The Sega Naomi Universal by default is a standing cabinet, but can be adjusted to a sitdown cabinet by following the guide below.

Required Tools

  • Tape measure
  • Marker pen
  • Security bit set and 10mm socket
  • Electric Drill
    • 10mm HSS drill bit
    • 10mm Saw drill bit
  • Jigsaw with fine metal blade
  • Handfile

Steps

1. Measure the coin chute (that bolts to the right leg)
2. Measure up the legs - I take a few mm less off for sanding down any rough cutting. Then cut off using jigsaw
3. Align legs with the plate the monitor back cover level, grind, file and sand down the bottoms so they are both level and flat (this stops it CP being on the piss).
4. Take the offcut and use it for a template for the 2 side holes, the 3 back holes and the cable hole.
5. Drill a 10mm hole at each end of the slot and each corner of the cable hole. Use a rotozip or file to join the 2 holes together, use the jigsaw to cut the straight sides for the oblong hole.

6. Tidy up holes with a file. (they are not quite finished but you get the idea)
7. Mark the 2 points where the hoof attaches. drill a small hole for the self-tapper at the back and a bigger hole so you can fit a small coachbolt on the side.
8. Re-fit legs using large washers to cover any sharp edges. not forgetting to re-fit the earth straps
9. Re-fit monitor supports etc and check fit & that CP is level.
10. Re-fit hoof

11. Measure from top of hoof to top of leg. Cut bottom from outer leg to this measurement - this is critical cut too much off and you will have a gap.
I deliberatly cut too little off and file down the 1-2mm extra. This is the most important part you do not want to go wrong here! If your a little sloppy on the inside legs there is a little give and you can cover wonky holes with bigger washers but you cannot get replacement outer skins. "Cut em too short or on the piss and it will look crap"
